The belief, in practice
One problem, one fix.
For decades the assumption was a trade: protect production and vent, or cut the venting and give up the well. It was never a real trade. The same pressure problem that loads a well off the line is the one that drives it to vent. Keep the well flowing, and the venting never happens.
Wasted product. Vented methane is gas that could have been sold. Avoiding the blowdown protects revenue and meets the coming standard at once.
Know your numbers. Meeting the standard starts with measurement: emissions intelligence finds and measures venting from the SCADA you already run.
A basin-wide problem. Across the hundreds of thousands of wells in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, a growing share are mature and prone to liquid loading.

The regulatory clock
Routine venting is being phased out, on a regulatory clock.
The same liquid loading that chokes a well off the line is also behind the largest source of upstream oil-and-gas methane in Canada: venting. The routine kind, opening a well to atmosphere to clear it, is exactly what Mbrace removes. The standard is set; what remains is how operators meet it.
